Laura Linney is an American actress who is popular for her portrayal of strong but vulnerable characters. Her father was an acclaimed playwright. However, she was raised as a single child by a single mom who was a nurse. Through the summer months when she was with her father Linney was able to develop a passion for the theatre. Her first stage experience was initially in Brown University then at Juilliard School. When she graduated at Brown University, she began her Broadway debut shortly thereafter. After two years of that, her first film hit the market, and next year her TV debut. Her appearances have been on a variety of television, film and stage programs since. Her achievements have been numerous throughout her career which included four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. While she has received numerous awards throughout her career, theatre was always her primary love.
