Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born 12 November 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 at an Olympic event. Bela Karalyi discovered Comaneci at age six. Later, she would become Romania's gymnastics coach. Her first competition was in The National Junior Championships in which she was 13th place in 1969. In 1970, she took home the title. At her first international event in 1972, a pre-Olympic junior event for countries of the communist bloc she won three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1974 she became an the all-around junior champion. In her very first competition at the senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva from Russia took home five gold medals as well with one silver. She was the first woman ever to perform the backwards double salto while dismounting from an uneven parallel bar. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. In her teens she was performing on touring shows like Ice Capades as a skater along with her younger sibling Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol entered the entertainment industry in her teens. Her career began by joining her sister Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling show of entertainment. The show featured dramatic ice skating shows.
